Ceramic repair compounds for guideways and slideways

Linear movements cause constant stresses for highly-precise slideways and guideways. At the worst, introduction of chips may cause notching or insufficient dimensions. This is a serious problem for machines operating in 1/1000 millimeter (0.00004 inch) range. Overhauling can only be done by exchanging guideways or carrying out a complete mechanical revision. No matter which process is chosen, considerable cost and timeloss are inevitable.

MetaLine Series XL are ceramic based balancing masses for "true-to-size" finishing of worn metal surfaces. The material is applied by means of casting or by trowel on the recessed and cleaned repair areas. Solidifying takes places within a few hours without shrinking or expanding. It forms an inert, electro-chemical neutral substitute mass. Oxide-ceramic tools are needed to finish by machining. Repairs might be carried out while the part remains installed. MetaLine Series XL shows an excellent linear wear resistance and has been designed for long-term use.
