Features
MetaLine 440 is a ready-to-use, water-based anti-drumming and noise-protection coating for the customer's own processing.
The material specifically interferes with the structure-borne sound behaviour of existing metallic structures. High tones are dampened and the reverberation-like echo is completely eliminated. As a result, the metal structure has the sound of a "cardboard box" after treatment. In individual cases, noise inhibitions of more than 30 dB(A) could be achieved.
It is applied to the outside or on the side facing away from the load and thus has no negative influence on the component function. The required coating thickness is about 1.5 times the thickness of the metal sheet to be treated. The procedure is ineffective with metal wall thicknesses over 5 mm (200 mils) or with extremely stiff constructions which do not tend to vibration and thus to structure-borne sound.
After air drying, the residual elastic film can be machined and coated with regular paint or the MetaLine Series 500 or 700 becoming FDA-compliant (food-/pharmacy-proof). The system can be used in wet or freezing conditions. The surface is profiled like an orange skin and can be cleaned/disinfected by standard treatments. The material is classified as flame-retardant according to DIN 4102.
