As often as necessary - as rarely as possible!
For commercial shipping, propeller coatings tend not to be required. Except for CFRP plastic blades or in the submarine area to make sonar detection more difficult. Why? Because coatings round off sharp edges and can negatively influence fuel consumption by increasing the surface friction.
Especially in the yacht sector, propeller coatings make sense during long periods of mooring in order to inhibit the growth or to be able to remove it more easily. Or if, depending on the marine botany, bacteria are predominant which tend to bio-corrosion!
